What is Pilates

Pilates is a system of physical and mental conditioning, developed by Joseph Pilates,  that can enhance your physical strength, flexibility, coordination as well as improve mental focus and create an improved sense of wellbeing.  Pilates can be adapted to suit everyone.  The Pilates system has 6 principles: Breath, Concentration, Centring, Control, Flow and Precision.

I have been practising Pilates for over 25 years. I love the way the practice makes me feel strong and capable, and so I completed my teacher training to share the benefits of Pilates with others. I love adapting the method to take account of clients’ personal needs. Having had lower back problems myself, I have experienced first-hand how Pilates can help to address injuries as well as improve confidence and mood.


I am Level 3 qualified mat Pilates teacher with the Pilates Foundation and CYQ and I am committed to ongoing professional development to support my clients. I believe in the value of the mind and body being in balance and see coaching and Pilates as complementary and beneficial to our overall wellbeing.

I am also a certified Buff Bones® instructor. The Buff Bones® workout for bone and joint health is an exercise system that uses varied and specific bone-strengthening and balance techniques which can benefit anyone and is also a safe option for people with osteoporosis. I currently teach in-person Pilates classes in Lenzie and Bearsden, and you can book these at On a Monday evening at 6.30pm I teach a mixed ability Pilates class at The Balance Hub in Clydebank. Contact me to book your space at


I am also available for individual Pilates sessions in your home or my home in the Glasgow area or via Zoom. Individual sessions cost £45 per hour.
